Developing and delivering sustainability strategies
In-spite of the continuing warnings over the global environmental situation the key indicators such as species loss and carbon emissions continue to move in the wrong direction. We are not well aware of the specific environmental services on which our economies and livelihoods depend and the risks associated with these dependencies. The course is the flagship for professionals, organisations and project teams to acquire the practical resources in order to effectively maximise sustainability outcomes as part of their work and thus empower them to create change.
The course uses the One Planet Living holistic framework, an initiative of “Bioregional”, which is based on 10 fundamental principles and provides a positive vision of a world in which people enjoy happy, healthy lives within their fair share of the earth’s resources, leaving space for wildlife and wilderness. It offers the participants the tools and skills to make sustainability understandable at both the individual and corporate level, to measure and manage effectively its impact and to provide clear targets and strategies to improve performance.
The framework is being used by multiple organisations, local and national governments, leading real estate developers, manufacturing companies and retailers, as well as other key stakeholders around the world (including B&Q, Singita, Villages Nature and the City of Brighton and Hove).
Objectives of the training
On course completion participants will become accredited ‘Sustainability Integrators’ in the use of One Planet Living and its Assessment Framework and gain access to the all the programme’s tools and resources.
“One Planet Communities offers us a very simple choice: The next time we choose a place to live, we can choose one that invests in the sustainability of our planet. This will allow us to make a difference on a scale – and with the urgency – that all of us now know is absolutely necessary.”
