Q. How do I show showcase having teamwork skills in an interview? A. Highlight being a member of a society or club that shows you‘ve had experience working with others outside of a work environment. Make sure to mention previous positions in which collaborating on specific objects was a regular part of the job. Prepare and practice! Recruiters and employers want candidates to clearly shoe a clear understanding of what makes an effective team.
Time Management
Q. In an interview, how do I explain having time management skills? A. Be prepared to talk through a time when you successfully juggled the pressures of academic work with part-time employment, or membership of societies and clubs, or previous projects happening simultaneously.
Interpersonal Skills
Q. How would I explain having interpersonal skills? A. If asked about your interpersonal skills give examples of times where you’ve worked with diverse groups of people. Mention previous customer service, retail, food service job experiences that gave you the chance to learn about communicating, helping, and serving others from all walks of life (and personalities!).
Commercial Awareness
Q. What is commercial awareness? And how does an employer ask about it? A. “Commercial Awareness’ would be the same as being up to speed on “industry trends”. An employer may ask you direct questions about what’s currently going on in the industry, or what your opinions are in certain topics. Set time aside to read up on the current state of the industry you‘re applying in. This way you’ll be able to carry on the conversation if the interview goes off in that direction.
Time Management Skills
Q. Time management is kind of abroad skill, how would I give good examples? A. Identify day-to-day situations that require you to be flexible while staying productive. Talk about your children’s schedules and balancing them out with yours, or a former time in your life schedule where you juggled school and part-time job, or multiple part-time jobs at once. Describe your methods for staying organized. The objective here is to explain how you prioritize and execute successfully.
