Appreciative leadership linguistics
Course description
In this course we focus on language as a tool and communication as the process of using that tool. Language focuses on words, symbols or signs while communication is centered on the message. Appreciative language usage allows us to be precise in expressing our thoughts, useful when navigating and managing challenging situations.
While traditional leadership focuses on problems, appreciative leadership focuses on potential, discovering what works well with individuals or organizations and getting more out of them. Appreciative leadership aims at getting the best out of people who are engaged in a system or a situation.
When negativity can seem overwhelming, the positive approach of Appreciative Inquiry offers tools and perspectives to meet increasing demands. It also provides preparations for post-crisis situations.
Methodology
Appreciative Leadership catalyzes systemic generative change in organizations and communities. Its applications include: Strategic planning, Vision-Values-Culture articulation and cascade, leadership and team excellence, coaching, employee engagement, and alliance integration. Appreciative leadership facilitates organization-wide change through appreciative tapping of strengths, ideas, aspirations and co-evolved imagination.
Language barriers are among the most common communication barriers in any context leading to misunderstandings and misinterpretations. We bring an integrative, communicative and solution-focused approach to addressing language barriers.
