Digital storytelling
Course description
This workshop is designed to build awareness of existing digital tools particularly in social media. Participants cultivate skills in digital storytelling and digital activism through digital storytelling. Those who wish can create an online blog with the technical and methodological support of Fractality.
Methodology
This workshop revolves around sharing stories among the participants and take into account real experiences of exclusion. With these shared stories, participants are familiarized with social media and digital storytelling apps and tools to shape digital stories.
Our goal is to provide an interactive and experiential learning experience based on the sharing of stories and ideas.

Programme
This workshop is highly experiential and participative. It consists of short theoretical lessons, practical exercises and group discussions. Reflecting upon and applying each tool to your real-life cases, you practise and gain new insights into your current dilemmas.
Part I. E- learning course
- Team building
- Ice breaking games, introductions etc.
- Introduction to storytelling
- What is narration?
- Examples from the bibliography (literature, poetry, journalistic discourse, etc.)
- Interaction with participants (commentary, feedback etc.)
- Introduction to Digital Storytelling
- What is digital storytelling?
- Examples of digital storytelling
- Interaction with participants (commentary, feedback etc.)
- Digital Storytelling as a means of disseminating powerful social messages
- How can we spread the social messages that concern us effectively through digital storytelling?
- Questions / comments for the presentations and for the live meeting that follows.
Part II: IN PERSON COURSE:
- Getting to know each other / creating a climate of intimacy
- Establishment of the group
- Summary presentation of what was said in the digital session
- Role-playing games based on participants’ stories
Participants work in groups of three and prepare a role playing game // Theatrical presentation of an incident of racism / discrimination they have experienced.
- The creation and processing of Digital Narratives I
Participants build on previous presentations and work in groups of three to produce digital narratives.
- Creation and processing of Digital Narratives II with the guidance of the trainers
- Participants complete and perfect their digital narratives and post them on the program blog.
- Introduction to good practices for Educational Digital Tools
- Presentation of the topic
- Educational digital tools in practice
- Examples and participation by the group
- Collection of mobility results (through specific methodologies) for their integration in the “toolbox” of the project
- Participants summarize what was said the previous day and add as many techniques and tools that they find relevant.

Designed for participants/groups
This workshop is designed for young adults interested in digital activism in particular those of immigrant or refugee backgrounds with little or no knowledge of social media.
Instructors
Dr. Markos Perrakis, founder and managing director of Fractality, designs and implements projects in the areas of leadership development and strategic planning to promote effective communication and individual and collective process development.
Dr. Perrakis is one of the first persons in Greece to apply the methodology of appreciative inquiry for individual and organizational development. This approach seeks to strengthen human capital and social bonds to generate organizational capacity.
Fractality offers services in coaching, training, assessments, supervision, process facilitation and speaking, systemic consultation, solution focused and cognitive behavioural approaches, methods of participatory design, spiritual intelligence and psychometric assessment. Dr. Perrakis is a certified provider of Vocational Guidance and Professional Orientation and an ISO 9001 lead auditor.
Dr. Perrakis is a representative of the Association of International Institution Supervision in Europe, a member of International Intervision Groups, scientific assistant of the Society for Organisational Learning, and scientific partner of the European Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (EUMU) in Greece in the Strategic Planning and Human Capital Development programmes.
Dr. Perrakis holds a Ph.D. in social psychology on leadership styles and their efficiency in organisations and an M.A. in clinical psychology.
